The Miracle Worker by William Gibson (Drama)
Directed by Mark Mixson

"When we do the best we can, we never know what miracle is wrought in our life or in the life of another."
- Helen Keller

The Miracle Worker tells the astonishing true story of Helen Keller, who was rendered deaf and blind as an infant after a bout of high fever.  Locked in a frightening, lonely world of silence and darkness, Helen is a wild child unable to communicate with those around her.  In desperation, her parents hire a heroic young governess, Annie Sullivan, who reaches out to Helen though the power of touch - the only tool they have in common - and leads the girl through a miraculous journey.  Winner of the 1960 Tony Award for Best Play, The Miracle Worker  explores the essence of dignity, human dignity, and what people can reach for and accomplish under the most adverse of conditions. A timeless and unforgettable story that has captured the hearts ofpeople for over 50 years and is simply described as “magnificent theatre,” the play can be enjoyed with the entire family.

Director Mark Mixson states, "Because we understand that the play is extremely well-known and highly regarded, we have sought to make our production fresh and exciting, even for those who will recall the powerful performances of the film.  I hope that audiences will be moved by the play, and leave with a resolve to work good in their own lives.
